”Beep! Beep!” I heard the car’s horn as Jane seemed to be quite impatient. “Wait! I am coming” I shouted at the loudest of my voice as I rushed towards the white gate. It was Anna standing there with neatly combed hair and squinty eyes in bright sunny afternoon. She walked briskly towards the car and sat inside as she propelled the car’s door.
All three of us were thrilled and overjoyed, as everything was going according to our plan. We all knew it would be a great adventure! After some hours of listening to music and chit-chatting in the car, we reached the National park, which was situated in a far flung area. As we stepped out of the car the afternoon sun was glaring.
The sky was clear, revealing a wide vast of pale blue. With delighted faces we all tottered towards the camp we have booked. As we walked around the park we saw a lot of interesting things. I was fascinated as I saw a talking parrot saying something humorous. After that what I saw was astonishing and I was oblivious of that. I saw the famous white lion there and it was not caged! It was free to move, but still it was out of the reach of camping area so I assumed there was no threat.
After a long back breaking journey inside the National park, we strolled towards our camp. It was situated near the fence on a hill. As we walked over the abrasive grass, the sky became dark. It was a chilly night, the moon had appeared out of the horizon and the skies were filled with stars. I turned towards my bed yawning. Jane and Anna enshrouded in their blankets seemed to be already slept.
With my eyes barely open, I was getting settled to go to sleep, but then I heard something strange. I was unable to recognize it. It was an important harbinger which I ignored. The next moment with my eyes wide open, I saw a dark gigantic figure growling and staring at me. For an instant, I was frozen; a haze of fear surrounded me and a chill ran down my spine. Being unable to scream, it seemed as if something was stuck in my throat. As it moved towards me the light from my lantern struck its face and became vivid.
I could not believe my eyes! A wild wolf was there in front of me. I was frantic with terror and powerless in front of the sharp claws and pointed teeth of that wolf.
Being panicky, I grabbed a lantern and threw it on its face. But all in vain, it started howling and the situation deteriorated. It became outraged and infuriated. In order to attack me, it pounced and jumped towards me.
As I saw this, I screamed in a really high pitched voice and my face turned away in fear. But, then I saw the dark grey body of that wolf lying in a pool of blood. The rescue team had arrived and shot the wolf dead. All I was able to hear was incessant cacophony of that wolf moaning in pain. Jane and Anna were quite fortunate being on the other side of the camp. Due to all the chaos they were standing wide awake in the midnight staring at the wolf’s blighted body. I was never able to forget that horrific scene.
